The Lion rank is a new program within Cub Scouting and provides an introduction to Cub Scouting for Kindergartners. They learn about the Scout Oath and Law and participate in fun and easy scouting activities. Lion parents are required to attend and stay at all meetings with their scout.
Den Leader: Darren Hicks
The Tiger rank is for boys and girls who are in first grade (or age 7). To earn the Tiger badge, a scout must complete six required adventures with the den or family and one elective of the den or family’s choosing. As the scout completes each adventure, they receive the applicable belt loop. When the scout has completed the seven required adventures, they are awarded the Tiger badge. The Tiger badge is awarded to the scout along with a parent pin.
Tiger scouts go on nature walks, explore the sky, and learn about healthy eating habits. Working with their families, scouts also learn about their duty to God. And, they get to perform a skit at a pack meeting!
Current Den Leader:
Arrow of Light Girl: 4
The Wolf rank is for boys and girls who are in second grade (or are age 8). To earn the Wolf badge, a scout must complete six required adventures and one elective adventure. The scout’s parent or guardian and den leader approves each requirement by signing the scout’s book, and the scout receives an adventure loop for each applicable adventure. Once all requirements are met, the Wolf badge is awarded to the scout along with a parent pin.
Wolf scouts go on overnight campouts (with their family), participate in short hikes, and learn more about the environment. Working with their families, scouts also learn about their duty to God. They learn more about themselves and their country by participating in flag ceremony activities and a community service project.
Current Den Leader :
Arrow of Light Girl: 4
The Bear rank is for boys and girls who are in third grade (or age 9). To earn the Bear badge, a scout must complete six required adventures and one elective adventure. The scout’s parent or guardian and den leader approves each requirement by signing the scout’s book, and the scout receives an adventure loop for each applicable adventure. When the scout has met all requirements, the Bear badge is awarded to the scout along with a parent pin.
The Bear rank expands on what they learned for their Wolf rank. Scouts go on longer hikes and on overnight camping trips. Bear scouts also get a chance to earn the “whittling chip,” which is a privilege and allows the scouts to carry their own pocket knives.
Current Den Leader:
The Webelos rank is for boys and girls who are in fourth grade (or age 10). Webelos scouts work on the five required Webelos adventures and choose two of the 18 elective adventures that are shared by the Webelos and Arrow of Light ranks.
When a Webelos scout has completed the requirements for an adventure, the Webelos den leader, rather than a parent, approves most of the adventures. For each adventure a scout completes, a pin to be worn on the Webelos colors or on hat is awarded. After completing seven adventures, including five required adventures and two elective adventures, a scout is awarded the Webelos badge and a parent pin.
Webelos is a basic form of Boy Scouts. They form a patrol, elect their own patrol leaders, and give themselves a patrol name. They go on long hikes and if possible, camp overnight without their families. Webelos scouts are expected to help teach younger scouts and set good example to younger cub scouts.
Den Leader:
The highest rank in Cub Scouting is the Arrow of Light. Earning this rank prepares a Webelos scout to become a boy scout. Arrow of Light scouts must complete four required adventures and three elective adventures to earn the Arrow of Light rank. For each adventure a scout completes, a pin to be worn on the Webelos colors or hat is awarded.
Webelos scouts, upon successful completion of the Arrow of Light requirements, receive their Arrow of Light awards during a special ceremony. This ceremony also marks the end of the Cub Scout Trail for the Webelos scouts, as they cross over into Boy Scouts. Pack 993 currently partners with Troop 853 and 854 chartered through American Legion in Wentzville.
